I met Voucher Venkat while working on a project for a large company. As an external vendor, every invoice I raised had to pass through his desk before it could become actual money in my bank account.
In the beginning, getting an invoice approved was never straightforward.

Every bill came with questions, clarifications, and enough follow-ups to make me wonder if I was applying for a loan rather than requesting payment. Venkat treated every rupee as if it came directly from his own pocket.

After a few months, I realized that success had less to do with the invoice and more to do with the person reviewing it. So I started spending a few minutes chatting with him whenever I visited the office. I stopped being “that vendor” and became someone he actually knew.

Over the years, our relationship changed. The same Voucher Venkat who once examined my invoices with the intensity of a tax auditor now reminds me when an invoice is due. Sometimes he follows up before I even remember to send it.

That’s the magic of Voucher Venkat. He protects the company’s money like a loyal guardian, but once you’ve earned his trust, he’ll make sure your paperwork moves faster than you ever thought possible.

<<decoding>> “India for Tomorrow” - featured in @timesofindia supplements across 10 cities yesterday.

The illustration imagines a world where technology, nature, and people grow together instead of against each other - a Solarpunk future. 🌱

What interests me about Solarpunk is that it doesn’t feel entirely fictional. A lot of what we call “utopian” already exists around us in fragments - in the ways communities continue to choose coexistence, shared spaces, and collective care over pure convenience.

This illustration became a way for me to explore that idea visually through familiar architecture, wildlife, and everyday Indian life!

A world I’m imagining with @chargezone.shwa, @devbrathariyani and @precarious_batata .

Over the last two months, I had the chance to explore a new theme and approach through another project (which I will be talking about in detail when it’s out).

The solarpunk theme became an eye-opener for my work, as it helped me imagine what my characters and Indian landscapes could look like in the future. While I usually draw the current and the present, the question of “what could be” always remained unanswered.

The Eco Wala Bhaiya was an interesting first step toward imagining the India of tomorrow. Even if vehicles become completely green and futuristic, some Indian habits may never change. We still might still be picking our teeth with whatever we find on the road.

I met Incharge Ilango at the Chennai–Puducherry highway toll gate while enquiring about a 3-month pass for my car.

When I said I don’t travel often and asked if there was a cheaper option, he suddenly straightened up and declared, without being asked, that he is an honest government employee who does his duty sincerely.

But his shifting eyes and light sweat told a different story. I glanced behind him, there was a CCTV camera recording.

Struggle for a pass still continues but Mr. Ilango made it to my series.

Here’s how we built our studio in two months.

A soldier stood alert, eyes scanning the horizon.. just a few steps away, a couple was lost in their own world, filming a cinematic reel laughing, retaking shots, chasing the perfect frame.

The Central Reserve Police Force on duty from bustling tourist spots and quiet valleys to sharp hairpin bends, the Gondola in Gulmarg, and even the heights of Apharwat Peak. Their presence was constant and.. reassuring.

[Update] I visualised one of the Silly Indian Faces with Adobe to give a 3D-form to my illustration and get the fun details out - like cleft chin and buck teeth.

Looking at these renders, I want to collaborate with a clay sculptor who’d be excited to bring this into the real world.
